Loving our Parents is a wonderful collection of stories from the lives of ordinary people on the rewards of treating our parents with honor and respect. It also has detailed and authentic accounts from both the Noble Qur’an and the Prophet’s Sunnah on our duties and obligations to those who have sacrificed so much to raise and educate us. In addition, it provides clear warnings of the penalties from Allah Almighty in this world and the Hereafter for abusing and disrespecting our parents. This is an essential publication for those who want to know the Divine Injunctions on not only how to treat their mothers and fathers, but also their grandparents, close relatives and elders.

The Quran and Hadith on mothers

Since there is a negative stereotype of how Islam views women , many people may not know that mothers specifically and parents in general are held in very high esteem in the faith. In this post, I will focus on the importance of mothers in Islam. These verses many times mention parents in general but go into detail in regard to the mother because she faces challenges that a father does not. Verse 15 from chapter 46 illustrates this point. And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment.

Short Story. Today we will share with you a short story emphasizing how important it is to love our parents, especially our Mother. Many grown-ups do not give much importance to our parents. They get busy in wordly pleasures and chase money or fame and ignore their parents. There was this young man about twenty years old named Jamal. Jamal, with dollar signs in his eyes and greed in his heart, took the offer to be literal and went home right away and with a dagger claimed the life of his mother and tore out her heart and hurriedly started back towards the marketplace to find the salesman. Startled, Jamal realized what he had done and started crying.

All religions and all societies have given parents an honorable status. From a purely material viewpoint, we find ourselves indebted to our parents, particularly our mother. She spent sleepless nights caring for us. Our parents as a team provided for all our needs: physical, educational, psychological, and in many instances, religious, moral, and spiritual.

Parents are to be treated well at all times, and The Almighty's blessings in having enabled you to do this virtuous act, be considered as a great asset in this world as well as in the Hereafter. The respect we ought to pay our parents has been time and again emphasized in the Holy Qur'an. In one of the verses it is stated:. Be grateful to your parents. It is one of the cardinal principles of good manners and the acknowledgement of debt. One should be grateful to the parents for all the kindness, extraordinary love, and unparalleled sacrifices hey undergo in bringing us up. The Almighty has decreed that when we render thanks to Him, we should express gratitude to our parents as well.

If they parents strive to make thee join in worship with Me things of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not; yet bear them company in this life with justice and consideration and follow the way of those who turn to Me in love " Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet said: Your mother.
