I Could Write a Book by Karen M. Cox

“Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever and rich…”
Thus began Jane Austen’s classic, a light and lively tale set in an English village two hundred years ago. Yet every era has its share of Emmas: young women trying to find themselves in their own corners of the world.
I Could Write a Book is the story of a self-proclaimed modern woman: Emma Katherine Woodhouse, a 1970s co-ed whose life is pleasant, ordered, and predictable, if a bit confining.
Her friend George Knightley is a man of the world who has come home to fulfill his destiny: run his father’s thriving law practice and oversee the sprawling Donwell Farms, his family legacy in Central Kentucky horse country.
Since childhood, George’s and Emma’s lives have meshed and separated time and again. But now they’re adults with grown-up challenges and obligations. As Emma orchestrates life in quaint Highbury, George becomes less amused with her antics and struggles with a growing attraction to the young woman she’s become.
Rich with humor, poignancy, and the camaraderie of life in a small, Southern town, I Could Write a Book is a coming of age romance with side helpings of self-discovery, friendship, and finding true love in the most unlikely places.

How to write a book – the short honest truth

Please don't apologize for length. This is a story-based subreddit, and we enjoy reading long stories. You passed somebody on the street, and they gave you a creepy look. We know, it was really, really scary, and you don't want to ever meet them again. This didn't happen to you, but it happened to your friend's sister. Actually, this is a rule, but it happens often enough that it bears repeating. And that leads into this next one:.

Here’s What I’ve Learned After Writing 7 Books

I Could Write a Book About You

Has anyone ever said you should write a book? Maybe extraordinary things have happened to you, and they say you should write a memoir. Or you have an extremely vivid imagination, and they say you should write a novel. Perhaps you just know how everything should be and imagine your essay collection will set the world straight. I am a literary agent. It is my full-time job to find new books and help them get published. Those well-meaning and supportive people rarely know how a story becomes printed words on a page.

In high school, my friends always got better grades on their essays than I did. I had such a hard time writing that I majored in it in college. Want to learn how to write a book from start to finish? I would stare at the page, lost in thought, trying to come up with perfect sentences before I wrote them down. This is still true, by the way. It takes me far too long to write anything.
